Lavender Hills of Kentucky, LLC, Denise Scaringi, 111 Carran Dr., Lakeside Park, KY 41017-2234; 859-331-3380; email  URL: www.lavenderhillsofkentucky.com  Located at 229 Conrad Ridge Rd., Brooksville, KY 41004, 606-735-3355. Lavender Hills of Kentucky is a family owned and operated lavender farm beginning its third year of operation. Located in the northern Kentucky county of Bracken, this family farm was established in 1965 with tobacco and cattle being the main source of income. Over forty years later, our goals have changed to include the production of lavender. Three generations have come together to begin the first lavender farm in Kentucky! Lavender is a lovely flower used for many decorative items as well as an herb used in many recipes from entrees to desserts. Our first year consisted of plans and plantings. We established our first field with 375 Grosso plants in June 2005. During the second year more Grosso plants were added as well as the introduction of Munstead and Rosea. The second year also resulted in the successful opening of our on-farm gift shop. Our first harvest happened in June 2006 with over 750 bundles collected. Our plans include selling these beautiful dried lavender bundles, lavender buds, lavender-filled products, plants, culinary lavender, and essential oils for creating our own line of soaps and lotions. All products will be available on our website as well as in our farm-site gift shop. The third year promises more good things to come including the planting of a u-pick area. The area will contain a number of lavender varieties in blues, pinks, purples, yellows, and whites. As our business continues to expand, our goal is to open the farm for tours, picnics, weddings, etc. We are currently members of the Herb Growing & Marketing Network and the River Valley Agritourism Alliance. Once harvesting begins for culinary lavender, we will be applying for membership with Kentucky Proud.
